And So It Begins...Back to School 2012

Can anyone hear the bells ringing today?  It is a joyful noise!  This is the first day that I haven't had a little child somewhere in the house for about six months.  The end of summer is bittersweet.  I am sad because we have had such a great summer, but happy because my kids were ready to go back to school.  The end of the summer battles had begun.  They are ready to be doing their own thing.  Wow!  When I look back to my blog, I am a little embarrassed to see the last time I blogged was in February. Let's just say that life has been a whirlwind since then.  It all started with Samuel being homeschooled in March.  Since then life has been full. Every minute has had to be accounted for.  But I am planning on doing better.  I have about a week and a half before preschool starts, so I get to play catch-up with everything that has been on the back burner.  My goal is to catch everyone up on each of the kids over the next few days.  So here is the start.  The first day of school!
How do you like Kelsey's chubby cheeks?  She was running late and had breakfast in her mouth.  Kelsey is a senior this year.  If you notice, her hair is a little longer.  She saved all summer to buy extensions.  Her hair only grows to her shoulders and then stops.  So she has enjoyed her hair a lot because she has never been able to grow it long!  Her dad had a slight heart attack when he heard how much she spent, but she saved and saved to do it.  So what can we say?  She looks beautiful!
Abigael starts high school this year and is a freshman.  She made the UHS volleyball team and has been playing on the freshman, sophomore, and JV teams.  Abigael and her sister Kelsey are on the same school team for the first time.  Although big sister makes sure Abigael know she is the freshman and Kelsey is the senior.  (Kelsey plays back row for the varsity team.)
Savannah is in 7th grade this year, and is all by herself at the junior high.  She plans on trying out for the 7th grade volleyball team in a few weeks.
Samuel is in 4th grade this year and has decided to go back to school.  He wasn't sure for a while because he loved home school.  Finally at the first of August he decided that he wanted to go back to public school.  He gave a double thumbs up about his first day of school and said he feels like he made the right choice.  After home schooling in the spring, we got him above and beyond where he needed to be.  His goals this year are to be a positive influence on his peers and to push himself academically.  It was hard to home school, but it was definitely worth it.  We learned a lot about each other.  It was a precious, exhausting time.  But that is what being a parent is about, right?
Christian is in first grade this year and is starting school without two bottom teeth.  He wasn't sure he was ready to go back to school, but had a wonderful first day.
